Xi'an was Chang'an, the capital of the Tang dynasty (618–907), so a Tang-style look fits right in here. A Tang costume photoshoot has three parts: the outfit, the makeup and hair, and the photos. At Yunjin Chang'an Hanfu Experience (云锦长安) on Cuihua Road, ¥199 covers the hanfu plus makeup and hairstyling. A photographer is not included — you can shoot on your phone or add a separate photo package.

What a Tang-style look usually means
Tang women's styles are known for high waistlines, skirts tied high (often above the chest), short jackets and a long, light shawl (披帛, pibo) draped over the arms. Colours tend to be bright and rich.
Tang-inspired makeup takes ideas from Tang paintings and figurines: shaped brows, a red lip and sometimes a small forehead motif called huadian (花钿).

Two ways to get your photos
Shoot it yourself
With the ¥199 package (hanfu + makeup & hairstyling) you head out in your look and take photos on your phone or with a travel buddy.
Add a photo package
A photographer is a separate photo package, not part of ¥199. A shoot takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour. Ask how many edited photos and original files you get, and when they are delivered, when you book.
City Wall photo package
With the City Wall photo package, the studio pays the City Wall tickets for the photographer and the assistant; you buy your own ticket.
Photo spots for a Tang look
Open squares around the Tang-era pagoda with soft late-afternoon light.
The Tang-style boulevard south of the pagoda, liveliest after dark. Blue hour balances sky and lights; weekends and holidays are very crowded. The studio is near Datang Everbright City — ask us how to get there.
A ticketed Tang-style garden in the same area, good if you have extra time.
A dramatic backdrop for a calmer, historic frame; available as a photo package.
Follow the museum's rules. Galleries are for visiting, so keep your voice down and do not block walkways for photos.
Timing and phone tips
- Come to the studio in the afternoon: makeup and hair take about 1–2 hours, so you are ready for late-afternoon light and blue hour.
- Let the fabric move: ask a friend to shoot a burst while you turn, so the shawl and sleeves float.
- Shoot from a little lower: holding the phone around waist height makes a high-waisted skirt look longer.
- Face the light: at night, turn your face toward a lantern or shop light and keep the boulevard lights behind you.
- Wipe your lens before you start; it makes a real difference to night photos.
